Font - Entitled cyclists refresh themselves with delicious dog water. S We were at a garden centre cafe for lunch yesterday, and there was a bit of a ruckus because four cyclists were complaining that they had filled their water bottles at the dog tap outside, which isn't drinking water.

Font - The guy they were speaking to was the most polite and patient guy in the entire world, and made extreme efforts to resolve this. Bear in mind they weren't customers, just some random who'd helped themselves to water meant for dogs. First he offered to rinse out and refill all the bottles, but that was rejected because "they're contaminated." Then he offered to run them through the dishwasher, fifteen minutes on a hot rinse, rejected because "it'll take too long." Finally he offered them b

Font - At this point the guy looked defeated and said "I don't know what you want me to do" and the little old lady next to me echoed my thoughts and muttered "tell them to off!" They left, angrily, but the patient guy got the parting shot. As they left one of the women turned round, jabbed a finger at him and said "that tap outside should have a sign!"

Font - "It's got one!" he shouted back, "It says 'for dogs!"" As we were leaving we passed through the soft play area, which provides free tea and coffee to parents while the kids play. The girl there was on the radio asking for more hot water to be brought over, because some selfish idiots had just drained both the containers rinsing out their water bottles.

Font - United_Evening_2629. 5 hr. ago Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't care less about which tap I use to fill a bottle. Sure, it possibly won't be as clean as a kitchen tap, but it's unlikely I (or they, in this instance) will actually experience any issues.

Font - Snooky Boots - 4 hr. ago Why didn't they just accept the bottled water and just pour it into their own containers? Idiots!

Font - Grommulox OP. 2 hr. ago I don't know if it says something about north-east derbyshire but I barely batted an eye, and it has passed without comment from family and friends I've shared this story with!

Rectangle - docterry6973. 4 hr. ago What is different about the water from the dog tap? The cafe only has one water system, right? Same water at every tap?
  • 13
Font - Grommulox OP. 4 hr. ago Nah it's a garden centre and the dog tap is connected to the rain capture they use for watering the plants.

Font - AbriiDoniger If they only knew 3 hr. ago I worked in a phone centre taking non emergency medical calls. We had a sheet with a table of call priority, rating calls as non urgent (Green) to Very Urgent (Red). Human bites rated higher priority than dog bites! The only time a dog bite would be higher is if the patient is specifically allergic to dog saliva, as I am, which is rare!

Organism - Raindances10 - 4 hr. ago Do you turn the dog tap on and let the dogs lick the tap or something?
  • 17
Font - Grommulox OP. 4 hr. ago Yes! There's a bowl too but most dogs prefer to drink from it direct. In summer when it's hot there's a hose/shower arrangement and it's on the whole time.

Font - Odd-Phrase5808 - 2 hr. ago the tap water is good enough for dogs (living breathing creatures), then it's good enough for human consumption. It's so sad to see people feeding their pets inferior quality food. I'm not talking parts that humans might not want to eat like chicken gizzards etc (which in some countries is actually a delicacy), or actual pet food (dog biscuits etc), I'm talking old half rotten food, that's downright unsafe. "Give it to the dog". Gross! They can get sick too. I o

Font - TychaBrahe 1 hr. ago OP says it's not tap water. It's connected to their rain barrel and intended for watering plants. So, yeah, it's not filtered and treated and chlorinated like tap water. It's also not acid rain, or they wouldn't let the dogs drink it.
